How many times a day would/should you feed your 7 month old chihuahua. And please make recommendations, times (hour), of day you would feed if you feed twice a day or only once a day. At what age do you switch to once per day? And at what age, if ever, are chis out of risk for hypoglycemia? Do you also only leave your food down for 15-20 minutes? Thank you.

Hi, between 6-12 months they need higher levels of nutrients, the manufacturers now provide special formulas in stores to choose from, that contain the proteins, minerals etc.

The feeding schedule  would in my opinion be 2x daily, then after a year old 1x daily.
The times could coincide with your own routines if preferred, or stick to a morning, late afternoon routine.

Always plenty of fresh clean water provided goes without saying of course, especially if your useing the dry food combination.

Regards

Sarah

I free feed with a little restriction food goes down soon as the dogs have gone outside and done their business and it gets picked up at 7pm along with their water to prevent accidents.

Here are the guidelines that I follow every time I have a new dog at home:
If the pup is from six weeks to four months of age, feed him four times per day.
If the puppy is from four months to 12 months, feed it three times daily.
When the dog is over 12 months, feed him twice daily for the rest of his life, 1/3 in the morning and 2/3 in the evening.
