Hi my name is Rena I just brought home my baby Molly. She is 8 weeks old and has had her first shots. I have a few questions that would really put my mind at ease. First of all how high can a puppy jump from? Is a couch or a bed too high? (We have pillows all over the floors right now just incase) Since she has her first shots can I take her outside for walks? Can she be around other dogs?  Also I have two older cats that we are trying to introduce her to they are not appearing mad or upset but does anyone have any tips?

Hi Rena, welcome to DogChihuahuas. and molly too  Smiley, regarding the jumping, your right putting the pillows around as they can attempt to jump, and at this young age they are prone to breaking bones, so until they are more sensible and stronger you will have to be quite vigilant with her. Also the stairs are hazardous, i put a gate up when mine were that young.

Even though she has had her first shots, in my opinion i wouldnt take her out just yet, i would let her get immune to the outside germs first.  I personally wouldnt allow other dogs near just yet either.

I have cats too, and i was very cautious introducing them, their temperaments are very different and can be spiteful as it is there natural instinct to be, so again just keep an eye out for that.

Im sure you will be fine, and that i have been of some help, please keep us updated with mollys progress,  good luck   Smiley

Hi Rena and Molly Smiley I agree with Sarah, I believe the rule of thumb is they're 95% safe after 5 weeks from first jab. Please don't quote me on that but I'm sure that's what I've heard (and do). Also, Chihuahua pups are very fragile and their bones are like match sticks. they can absorb things but be carefull.

Please please PLEASE show us some pics of your Molly  Grin

I bet she's a darling. Here's to a very warm welcome to the DogChi.

Why will a dog get angry when you blow in it's face but automatically stick it's head out of a car window? Smiley
