I feed Carmella Purina Dog Chow, dry food only and she loves it.  Tried some lil caesar one time for a
treat and she did not like it.  Of course she has to have a bite of Whatever I am having also!
Pickles, banana, orange, peanutbutter, cauliflower......

I still am in favour of dry foods, with the variety of other supplements, and of course plenty of water available.

I give both. I also give my chi homemade food. She loves carrots mixed with some meat.

Canned food is softer and easier on small teeth, but it can cause a puppy to go to the bathroom more often. Many dry foods are of high calorie and high carb, which are the true contributors to overweight dogs. But, dry food is more convenient for Chihuahuas. Dry dog food is best to start early, so that your Chihuahua can get used to the texture. Small dry dog food for puppies will also prevent choking and help control bowel movements.
