Vets are calling out for a national Blood bank for dogs, as major
operations rise increasingly, and an attempt to keep on top of
Blood transfusions needed for our canine friends.  An expert in
Veterinary surgery said a shortage of blood was the biggest constraint.

Blood banking has the potential to benefit the biggest number of
patients if we can get it formalised.  All depends on owners of
large dogs coming forward - if a dog gets hit by a car and needs
a blood transfusion, their is a problem.......  In human medicine
there would be no second thoughts about giving blood. A blood
bank would make a big and crucial difference to quality of life.

Some breeds were more prone to heart problems than others,
one in four dogs develop a tumour at some point, many of which
can be successfully treated....

Why will a dog get angry when you blow in it's face but automatically stick it's head out of a car window? Smiley
