 Huh Huh Huh

i chihuahua is 2 years old and she just had her 2nd litter of pups...1st litter she only had one and it died.....this time she had 2 but only one lived......but i have a problem.....she is used to being on the bed all the time, anytime she wants to be.....and now she wont stay with her pup in a box or ANYWHERE but the bed, and she will only stay with it on the bed if me or my girlfriend is sitting with her.....if we get up, she follows....she almost acts like shes scared of it or something... i have no clue what to do.....when we put the pup in a box on the floor, she will act interested, poke her head over the top of the box and look at it but then will turn around and run away, and wont go into the box at all.....if anyone has any advice please share

Hello, Welcome to DogChihuahuas.  Smiley
Great having you on board, look forward to hearing updates on the new puppy, and mum too.

Firstly i would like to suggest consulting your vets clinic, if you have serious concerns with the new puppy especially if mum isnt letting pup feed.

I personally have never had any litters from my chihuahuas, so unfortunately can not advise on
this, but some of our memebers have experienced this, so can offer they experience.

Regards

Sarah

well thats actually part of the weirdness......she is more than happy to pay all the attention in the world to the puppy, including feeding it.....just as long as it is on our bed. she doesnt want anything to do with it unless it is on our bed.....she will jump in the box every now and then to check on it but only for a couple of seconds....when it gets hungry, we have to take the pup out of the box and put it on the bed so it could eat....we even had to put hot water bottles under the blankets in the box so it would stay warm....my concern is this....while we're sleeping i dont want her to try to move it, like she has a couple of times because she keeps hurting it, because she cannot seem to pick it up right.....in the past few hours since she has had the puppy, she is however doing better with staying in the box.....so maybe she just needs to warm up to being a new mommy Smiley......ill post pictures as soon as i figure out how lol
