I'm getting my chihuahua, Boomer, soon. My friends chihuahua had puppies on Aug 15 and shes giving me one! The mother (100% chihuahua) and father (50% chihuahua and 50% jack russell) are wonderful. I've always wanted a chihuahua but been advised that toy breeds should not be raised with small children. We've been socializing my 18 month old with the puppies daily and also been reading numerous books about chihuahuas and puppies. They are always supervised together and I try to teach my son not to pick them up and to be nice. The puppies cant resist my son and vice versa. Any advice on how to make this work?

Hello, Welcome to DogChihuahuas.  Smiley,
The pictures are adorable, and im sure you will be delighted with your new chihuahua.
The subject of children and any dog/puppy in my opinion should be supervised, and monitored, especially with the smaller type, purely because of the danger element of there fragile-ness, i.e being very careful of them falling etc, breaking their little bones, but in all can be thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Keep us posted on your newcomer  Smiley
Regards
